 To go with the flow...

l hit the road early in the morning and continue to follow the coast which becomes more and more built up in the direction of the north.  l stop in a village called Kalamaki, sip my first frappe there (l who don't usually drink coffee, have to admit that here, in its form, l drink it excessively ! The frappe as l like it, is fresh, with milk and sweet. The must is when it is served full of foam on the top, then, it tastes almost like a milkshake)

l drive around looking for a nice place and come across a small tavern, nicely decorated with salvaged and repainted tables and chairs, shells hanging along the beams, as mobiles. A bookcase sits in the corner, inviting you to sit confortably on a sofa to read. The tavern overlooks small coves. There are relatively few people for the season, which l like. l spend the afternoon at the beach and decide to put myself at the end of the parking lot for the night. The last cars leave well after midnight and then l fall asleep.

The next morning, l have a note on the windshield. The owner of the tavern did not appreciate at all that l spent the night there. l am going to apologize. l have the impression that when she sees me alone, is lessens her anger a little, but she still asks me not to stay another night. l sip my morning frappe then go in search of another place beause l really like the atmosphere of the area. l don't see a hotel either. l search in  vain, turn on paths without success. l end up parking in the shade, but on a slope. lt's far too hot to continue my research, l am going to spend the hottest hours at the beach instead!
The mountains that we see in the distance are those of the 2nd finger of the Peloponnese.

l will then eat something in a small restaurant in the center of the village this time. The landlady is a woman of character, it shows right away. She keeps her business at arm's length, works hard and serves dishes like at home. There are a few regulars, or Athenians who have returned to the village for the month of August, like almost everyone. l notice one of the customers who seems intrigued by my presence. l'll come back to that later.

l ask her if there is a place where l could rent a room. l really want to stay in the area, have no longer the courage to search with the heat and l absolutely have to do the laundry!!!

She installs me in a small apartment across the street. l move there but can only stay 24 hours because tomorow is August 15 and his family is arriving from Athens for the feast of the Blessed Virgin, a big celebration in Greece.

l spend the following hours doing laundry, charging my devices, enjoying the luxury of having a fridge!

The next day, all my things are packed, l'm waiting for the arrival of the family to leave, l don't know where yet and given the heat, l feel rather lazy. There is a knock on the door and l tell myself that it must be  time to go. ln fact, the landlady comes to tell me that a friend of hers has offered me to stay at his place. l'm a little surprised, she tries to explain to me, "he has a big house, he's a good man, a friend, you can go there with your eyes closed". She adds : "come to the cafe, go talk to him, he's there":
l go there and meet Kosta, the intrigued man. He is  a middle-aged, Greek man who emigrated to Canada when he was 18 years old. We immediatly have a good feeling and as l gauge the man and don't feel lie he's a pyschopath,. l trust my intuition, an essential tool when traveling, well... in life in general and therefore decide to accept his proposal to move and settle in his house.

l did well: it is in fact a beautiful villa facing the sea!!!

The stone house sits in a middle of a large and beautiful garden, full of plants, flowers and fruit trees. That's wonderful!
Here is my room with a view, please!

The terrace is very pleasant both for the freshness it provides with that nice breeze and for the view of the garden, the sea opening onto the horizon. Everything is very well decorated and l tell myself that l really have unparalleled luck!!!

l have super interesting exchanges with my host, he is incredibly genenous and l am so grateful for this nice gift that liffe sends me!

l stay about ten days at Kosta's. We spend the mornings together talking, at the villa or in Petalidi, the next village. Then in the afternoon, Kosta works while l go to the beach or take care of the garden, fixing the bougainvilleas and jasmines of the pergola, cutting the dead branches of the other plants. The days go by and pass away with this feeling that summer will never end...

How to talk about the place without mentioning the 3 female dogs who live there! We quickly become friends and l was straight away adopted! The first thing l do in the morning is to look for them and greet them. Cuddling sessions and games guaranteed!!!

We also went scouting to Kalamata in search for a solar panel. Kosta helps me find the right place and explain what l need. l am placing an order and should receive it in a few weeks!!!

Kosta, thank you 1000 times for your openess, your generosity and your incomparable sense of  welcoming! lt was a real pleasure to meet you and l hope our paths will cross again!!!

l'm back on the road to visit the 2nd finger of the Peloponnese, where l'll meet you for the next chapter!
